DODGE CITY – Linda Wilson, 64, left this world for a short journey to Heaven Saturday, August 11, 2012. Her death came after a very brief illness.
Linda was born December 8, 1947 in Superior, Nebraska, the daughter of Evert and Katherine Proctor Vader and spent her childhood in Mankato, Kansas. Linda graduated from Mankato High School in 1965 and attended Manhattan Christian College. She married Stan Wilson on July 7, 1995 at Atchison, Kansas. They moved to Dodge City in January of 2000 where Linda served as Convention Coordinator for the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau until she joined Stan as Associate Publisher of Southwest Kansas Faith and Family Christian newspaper in 2007.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Dodge City, where she served on several Women’s groups and served on various Kansas Tourism Committees.
Survivors include: her husband, Stan; a son, Ron Brook, Willis, Kansas; a daughter, Valerie Yow, Branson, Missouri; a step-son, Stanley Ray Wilson and wife Stephanie, Liberal, Kansas; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jason Brook.
Memorial service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the First Christian Church, Dodge City, with Mr. Richard Crockett officiating. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mankato.
