DODGE CITY – Eunice M. Shipley, 89, died Friday, September 29, 2006 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Dodge City.
She was born January 26, 1917 at Wright, Kansas, the daughter of Louis and Nora Schmidt Lix. She was a graduate of the St. Mary’s Academy. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker, child care provider, and volunteer for the Dodge City Public Library.
She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and the Altar Society, both of Dodge City.
On October 25, 1943 she married Sam H. Shipley in Wright, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1997.
Survivors include: 4 sons, Stephen Shipley and wife Karen, Orlando, Florida, Bob Shipley and wife Jamie, Belton, Missouri, Rick Shipley and wife Donnis, Hutchinson, Sam J. Shipley, Dodge City; 1 daughter, Cynthia Shipley, Dodge; 1 sister, Elinor Mellard, Leawood, Kansas; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, O.B., Cletus, Vernon and Eugene Lix; 2 sisters, Helen Bleumer, and Mary Louise McDaniel Snyder; 1 daughter-in-law, Marylin Shipley: 1grandson, Nathaniel Shipley.
Vigil Service will be at 7:00 pm Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at the Church with Fr. Ted A. Skalsky presiding. Friends may call from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tuesday at Burkhart-Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.
