Obituary

ASHLAND, KANSAS - Aldon David Foster passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the age of 85 at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, Kansas.

Aldon was born to parents David and Iva (Potter) Foster on March 23, 1940, in Crookston, Nebraska. He grew up as the middle child of five children where they were raised on the family farm in Sparks, Nebraska. Aldon married Carren Kay Fischer in May of 1963. They moved to Ashland, Kansas in 1970. Aldon was employed by Buschman Construction where he helped build three bridges: the Clark Creek Bridge, the Cimarron River Bridge, and the Big Sandy Creek Bridge. Later, he went to work for Clark County Road and Bridge where he retired after 40 years. Aldon loved spending time outside tinkering and building just about anything you can imagine. He enjoyed anything outdoors, including cutting firewood, camping, fishing, and welding. One of his favorite past times was spending time with family and friends, visiting with just about anybody, and pulling jokes.

Aldon was preceded in death by his parents, David and Iva (Potter) Foster, his daughter, Melanie Foster, his wife, Carren Kay Foster, his older brother, Francis Foster, and his younger brother, Kenneth Foster.

He is survived by his son, Richard Foster of Ashland, KS; a granddaughter, Iva (Foster) Brown (Josh Brown) of Kiowa, KS; a grandson, Jonathan David Foster (Lael Foster) of Woodward, OK; a great grandson, Reid David Foster; his older sister, Ellen Kraning (Foster) of St. Paul, NE; his younger brother, Wayne Foster of Grand Island, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews.
