Obituary

DODGE CITY, KANSAS – Christopher Lee Morlen, 51, of Dodge City Kansas passed away peacefully Saturday, July 13th, 2024.

He was born July 6th, 1973 at Meade Co Hospital, the son of Sherman "Sam" Morlen and Cindy (Yearick) Stinemetze.

If you were blessed enough to know Chris well, then you're already aware of what a guy he was. For those not so fortunate, let us share with you about the man we have loved and lost. Chris was an ornery child who loved to torture his siblings, as all big brothers do, but it was just a cover-up for how much he truly adored them, especially his brother. In high school he loved spending time with his grandpa working at the tire shop, and he thought his grandmas hung the moon! After high school he spent time working in the oil fields along with various other occupations. Later in life he discovered a passion for cooking. He was a voracious reader and would school all of us during a game of Trivial Pursuit! He loved his sports teams too, die hard OU fan to the very end, as well as his Raiders! He loved music. It was music that would settle him down during his final days. Music is a bond that ties our whole family together, and something we'll all treasure as a way to be close to him.

He loved animals, especially his faithful companion Loki, who will undoubtedly continue to wait for him to come back through the door.

Chris's true gift, though, was being a gatherer of people. We don't believe even he was ever fully aware of the countless people who loved, and will greatly miss him. Our family has countless messages expressing he was their most loyal and caring friend. We will never forget the comfort their words brought us during his final battle. Please know we shared all of that love with him on your behalf.

Though our hearts are truly broken from the loss of his earthly body, we're eternally grateful this isn't goodbye, but see you later.

Survivors include: his mother Cindy Stinemetze and husband Karl, Dodge City, paternal grandfather Sherman Morlen, Liberal, siblings Misty Clark and husband Tyson, Dodge City, Stacy Stinemetze, Sierra Vista, Arizona, Sean Stinemetze and wife Alex, Folsom, California, his daughter Brandy Klotz and partner, one granddaughter, niece Madison Stinemetze, and nephew Sage Stinemetze.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Morlen; maternal grandmother Mary Lou Yearick; his sister April; and his infant son.

A celebration of life has been scheduled for Thursday September 19th in the Homestead Theater, 201 E. Wyatt Earp, Dodge City, Kansas from 6-8 PM. Start gathering your memories and stories to share, as he would have wanted a party to memorialize his life, and we all know he was a story-telling jokester, so we honor him with this wish! There will be no public visitation, as cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested Misty Clark for the Christopher Lee Morlen Memorial Fund in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas.
