Obituary

DODGE CITY - We sadly mourn the passing of Claudia Peterson Boyd, 73, of Dodge City, Kansas.  She died peacefully in her home on May 6, 2023.

Claudia, the youngest of six children, was born to Laurel "Pete" and Frances Peterson on December 9, 1949 in Coldwater, Kansas.  Her childhood years were spent in Coldwater where she was active in band, sports and cheerleading.  She was voted by classmates as most athletically gifted female.  After graduating high school in Coldwater, she attended Hutchinson Community College and later transferred to Kansas State University.  At Kansas State, she met and married Charles Boyd in 1970.  They had two amazing daughters, Natalie and Charlene "Charley."

Claudia had a passion for decorating and staging merchandise at her Mother's antique store, Fran's Antiques in Greensburg, Kansas.  Other passions include cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and spending fun times with family.  She enjoyed working with co-workers at JC Penney in Dodge City. Claudia had a beautiful smile and her infectious sense of joy and childlike wonder about the world made her truly unique.  May we carry her lovely energy within us.

Left to cherish her memory are sisters, Carolyn Brass, and Judy Doyle (Wayne); brothers, Kenneth Peterson (Eileen), Francis "Frank" Peterson (Rita); daughters, Natalie Hernandez and Charlene "Charley" Boyd; son-in-law, Rafael Hernandez; grandchildren, Myles Hernandez, Carlos Hernandez and Megan Hernandez; great grandchildren, Tristen Hernandez, Winston Cruz and Grayson Hernandez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Laurel, and big brother, Charles "Chuck" Peterson.
