Corrine
Duran
May 2, 1942 — Oct 30, 2023
DETROIT, MICHIGAN - Our Beloved wife and mother Corrine Duran, age 81, of Sandusky, MI passed away at Ascension, St. John hospital in Detroit.
Corrine had a vibrant, colorful life and traveled extensively. She was born in Trementina, New Mexico on May 2, 1942, to Florencio and Refugia (Chavez) Parras. Corrine attended Tucumcari high school in New Mexico.
She married Peter J. Duran on September 19, 1959, in Dalhart, Tx. Corrine followed her husband from New Mexico to Kansas for work. They then relocated their family to Stratford, Ontario, Canada because of a transfer in Peters employment where they lived for a number of years. When the factory closed, the family returned to the US and settled in California for a while. Corrine was known for her beautiful smile and her kind heart. Retirement did not suit her so she began her own business of translating and transporting Spanish speaking workers in the Thumb area. Corrine was very successful and she traveled to many far away states providing transportation. She was loved by her clients, and they gave her the honorary designation of Dona Corrina. Corrine was an excellent cook and baker. She loved family gatherings, window shopping, casinos and bingo.
Corrine is survived by her husband, Peter of 64 years; children, Elizabeth Duran, Macomb Twp., Peter Duran, Lake Orion and David (Sandra) Duran, Sandusky; 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and another on the way; surviving siblings are, Christina Lujan, Elvira (David) Nogueras, Florencio (Goya) Parras, Roger Parras and Pete Parras; several nieces and nephews including Francis Martinez; and in laws Jerry Duran, Carolina Flores, Richard (Geraldine) Duran, and Gene (Patty) Duran.
