Obituary

FT. DODGE, KANSAS - Danny Knight, 77, of Lincoln, Kansas, passed away on March 2, 2025. Born on August 29, 1947, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Virgil "Bud" Knight and Hazel Louise (Harris) Knight, he was the eldest of eight siblings: Sharon, Russ, Suzie, Buddy, Sam, Mike, and Mollie.

Danny is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gwen (Svejda) Knight; sons Jesse and Ben; grandchildren Nicholas, Caitlyn, Alyssa, Blake, and Logan; and great-grandchild "Little" Nick.

A proud Vietnam veteran, Danny served in the U.S. Army's First Cavalry Division as a Combat Engineer, earning two Bronze Stars. After his service, he built a 44-year career as a Union Pacific Railroad conductor.

Danny was a man of tradition and values, his faith in Christ, his love for his family, and his appreciation for a good meal shared with friends. He loved playing golf and collecting anything he found interesting, like cars, rocking chairs, golf clubs, and a lifetime of treasures from garage sales.

Danny was not a man of pretense—what you saw was what you got. If he gave you his friendship, it was real. If he gave you his word, he meant it. He didn't waste time on things that didn't matter, but he never hesitated to lend a hand to someone in need.

Danny will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, April 5th, 2025 at 11 AM at the Lincoln Cemetery (429 E South St, Lincoln, Kansas 67455).
