DODGE CITY - Danny Joe Shipe, 64, died Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.

He was born May 22, 1954 at Dodge City, the son of Dr. Glenn and Hildred (Sagerty) Shipe.  He attended Dodge City High School and was a lifetime area resident.  He was a Floor Covering Installer and enjoyed rodeo and horse racing where he worked as an Assistant Starter at many horse racing tracks including tracks in Florida and Texas.

Survivors include: Kristin Hughes, 2 brothers, Doug Shipe and Ann, Dodge City and Greg Shipe and wife Charlee, Eudora, Kansas; 2 sisters, Rita Brychta and husband John, Manhattan, Kansas and Cindy Bartlett, Manhattan; 5 nephews, 9 nieces, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Danny is also survived by his beloved dogs, Bumper and Toto.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Glenn Shipe, his mother, Hildred Smith and a brother, John Shipe.

Memorial services will be August 4, 2018 at 10:00 am at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Andy Taylor officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.  There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.  Friends may sign the register from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, August 3, 2018 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
