CIMARRON – Darrell A. Base, 66, died Monday, January 15, 2024 at the Minneola District Hospital.

He was born May 10, 1957 at Larned, Kansas, the son of Daniel and Nancy (Barker) Base.  He was a graduate of Pawnee Heights High School in Burdett, Kansas until he moved to Cimarron in 1979.

He worked many years in sales for John Deere until retiring in 2020.  He enjoyed motorcycle riding, especially his Honda Gold Wing as well as gun collecting and gardening.

On September 25, 1979 he married Cynthia Wheaton in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She preceded him in death on February 12, 2002.  In July of 2005 he married Kim Howard at Cimarron.  She survives.

Other survivors include: 2 daughters, Anna Cazier and husband Curt and Maggie Mulford and husband Scott all of Topeka; 2 step-sons, Justin Clowdis and wife Rachel and Josh Clowdis and wife Michelle all of Minneola; 7 grandchildren, Caysen Tweedy, Maverick Mulford, Caylee, Cazier, Jake Cazier, Caitlyn Clowdis, Adeline Clowdis and Raylen Clowdis; 2 brothers, Jerry Base and wife Vernie, Smolan, Kansas and Don Base and wife Janese, Ellsworth; and a sister, Barbara Kroupa and husband Alvin, Marion, Kansas.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sharon Base.

Memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.  Friends may sign the register from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, February 2, 2024 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.  There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.
