DODGE CITY - David Daniel Blankman passed away peacefully on April 6, 2024.

David was born January 6,1943 in Omaha, Nebraska to Clara and Dan Blankman.

David learned to work at an early age as he and Clare relocated frequently for her endeavors.  At the early age of 9  he had a paper route in Wichita Kansas and was also a lifeguard in his teenage years.  When he and Clare moved to Dodge City he met Joan Dome.  They married July 21, 1962.  From this marriage they raised three children, Lisa, Ron and Dustin.

At the age of 19 Ron Kirkpatrick taught Dave the electrical trade.  Dave became a master electrician and together they formed Reddy Electric, Inc.  Dave was instrumental in wiring many businesses in Dodge City including the Dodge House Hotel, the Civic Center, several medical facilities, Grain Products elevator, area feed yards and many, many residential houses.  Dave also taught an electrical wiring class for a few years at the Area Vocational Technical School in Dodge City.

He and Joan owned and operated "B" Electric and the "B" Quick Convenience Store.  After these businesses ended he traveled extensively working for Millard Warehouses.  When Dave returned home to "sem-retire" he worked as a maintenance person and most recently at Sutherlands where many customers appreciated his expert knowledge of electrical wiring.

Dave and Joan enjoyed attending K-State football games; attended several bowl games with their tailgating friends. They also went on several cruises and a memorable 50th Anniversary trip to Hawaii.

Dave is survived by his three children Lisa Veeder and companion Larry Sherer, Ron (Karen) Blankman and Dustin Blankman.  Seven Grandchildren: Matthew (Lori) Veeder, Dylan (Shelby) Veeder, Brandon Blankman & companion Trish, Kassidie (Brandon) Roy, Kameren (Colin) Regan, RaeAnn Blankman and Garet Blankman.  Four Great-Grandchildren Morgan & Kyle Veeder and Maverick & Wyatt Veeder.

Dave was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years Joan; and his parents Clara Blankman and Dan Blankman.

Vigil Service will be at 7:00 pm Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Friday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 901 Central Ave., Dodge City.  Inurnment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.  Friends may sign the register from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm with the family present at 6:00 pm Thursday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.  There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.

The family suggests memorials to the Sacred Heart School Endowment or Preparing A Place (building fund for new Catholic school) both in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
