DODGE CITY – David C. Evinger, 78 died Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Halstead Health & Rehab, Halstead, Kansas.

He was born on February 11, 1948 in Carthage, Missouri the son of Jack Charles and Ora Mae (Martin) Evinger.

For 30 years he drove a truck delivering freight. His other interests were mechanic work, auto body and he and Gail enjoyed going to car shows.

On September 30, 1967 he married Gail Stimatze in Pierceville, Kansas.

Survivors include: his wife, Gail, Dodge City; his daughter, Shari Christensen and fiancée, Kevin Buske, South Haven, Kansas; 3 brothers, Daniel Evinger and wife Cindy, Cimarron, Kansas, Dwight Evinger and wife Mary, Dodge City and Jerome Evinger and wife Vicki, Dodge City; 2 sisters, Susan Wilson and husband Marvin, Garden City and Beverly Burkhart and husband Darrell, Dodge City; 4 grandchildren, Michael Tilley and wife Branda, Fowler, Kansas, Heather Long and husband Brock, Haviland, Kansas, Lauren Unruh and husband Jonathan, Meade, Kansas, Shelby Christensen and Kasch Jackson, Woodword, Oklahoma; and 3 great grandchildren, Henley Long, Beau Tilley and Kennedy Unruh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Mae Evinger and half-brother, Bob Martin.

Private family services have been held.
