DODGE CITY – Delores (Kreie) Bernash, 85, died Friday, June 20, 2025 at St. Catherine's of Dodge City.

She was born April 6, 1940 at Ford, Kansas, the daughter of Jesse and Nellie (Copeland) Kreie.  She was a graduate of Dodge City High School and a lifetime area resident. She was a cook throughout her life working at the hospital and the Dodge House as well as being a homemaker.

She was a member of the VFW Post 1714 Auxiliary.

On July 4, 1975 she married Clayton Bernash at Dodge City.  He preceded her in death on December 5, 1999

Survivors include: 6 children, Harry Hixon, Dodge City, Tony Hixon and wife Chelle, Dodge City, Tina Gerritzen, Dodge City, Randy Hixon, Carri, Michigan, Joel Wood and wife Brenda, Spearville and Richard Hixon, Sr. and wife Melody, Ensign; and 17 grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Kathy Warkentin, 2 grandsons, Richard "Bubba" Hixon, Jr. and Ryan Hixon and her siblings, Virgil Kreie, Vera Culver, Estle Kreie, Rosy Mindy, Donald Kreie, Shirley Williams and Paulette Dupree.

Memorial services will be 10:00 am Friday, June 27, 2025 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Dusty Cookson officiating.  Private family burial will be at a later date.  There will be no public visitation, cremation has taken place.
