Douglas "Doug"
Kasselman
Feb 14, 1957 — Dec 16, 2025
DODGE CITY — Douglas "Doug" Kasselman, 68, of Dodge City, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at his home.
He was born on February 14, 1957, in Spearville, Kansas, the son of Melvin and Katheryn (Perkins-Berend) Kasselman. Doug was a proud graduate of Spearville High School and a lifelong resident of the area. A dedicated farmer for most of his life, he also attended auctioneer school and worked as an independent auctioneer for several years.
He was a member of Heaven Bound Cowboy Church in Dodge City, where his faith, sense of community, and generosity were well known.
Doug is survived by his four children: Kody Kasselman and wife Tonya of Garden Plain, Kansas; Klint Kasselman of Hutchinson, Kansas; Kameron Kasselman and partner Jennifer Evans of Andover, Kansas; and Kortney Meszewski and husband Ryan of Garden Plain, Kansas. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren — Kaeden, Carson, Ade, Landon, Jordan, Kyson, Kraeten, Ashlyn, Jaxon, and Jhett.
He is also survived by his four sisters: Nancy Laudick and husband Roger of Council Grove, Kansas; Katie Giessel of Valley Center, Kansas; Pam Townsdin and husband Richard of Dodge City, Kansas; and Melissa Konrade and husband Roger of Spearville, Kansas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him deeply.
Doug will be remembered for his quick wit and unforgettable sense of humor — if you ever heard a joke from him, chances are you passed it along to others. He truly enjoyed being a grandpa and being around livestock.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Carl Kasselman.
Memorial service will be on January 9, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Pastor Jay Stapleton officiating. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no public viewing will be held.
Due to the weather on January 9th, the burial was postponed. Graveside service will be at 12:00 pm Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Windthorst.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Heaven Bound Cowboy Church, Front St. AA or Boot Hill AA all in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
