Obituary

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA – Edward Lee Spencer, Jr., 76, died Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital North, Oklahoma City.

He was born on March 21, 1949 in Ford, Kansas, the son of Edward, Sr. and Mary Virginia (Imel) Spencer.  He graduated from Ford High School and moved to York, Nebraska to begin his college career at York College. He often liked to reminisce and tell stories about his part time job in college as a school bus driver. After completing two years at York, he transferred to Oklahoma Christian College (Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts) and received his Bachelor's Degree in 1972.  From this point on, he would make Oklahoma "home." On April 6, 1975 he married Nancy Turner in Oklahoma City. He worked in the oil and gas industry for several years and on November 1, 1988, took a leap of faith and began his own practice as a Certified Public Accountant. He worked diligently taking care of his clients until his last days.

He relished the chance to escape to his farm south of Spearville whenever his work schedule permitted. He proudly confessed to being a "clothes horse," delighting in the flair of custom suits and vibrant shirts, complete with monogrammed French cuffs. He loved the process of cooking a brisket "low and slow" and shared this with his sons. Though he was a man of few words, he had a huge heart. He was tremendously proud of his sons and grandchildren. He ended every phone call and interaction with his loved ones by saying, "Remember, I love you," in his deep and distinct voice. This closing statement will always remain on the hearts of everyone who love and miss him.

Survivors include: his two sons, Christopher of Yukon, Oklahoma and Nicholas and wife Kelly of Houston, Texas; two grandsons, Caleb and Conner Spencer and two granddaughters, Allison and Charlotte Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward, Sr. and Mary Virginia (Imel) Spencer; Nancy Spencer and his sister, Rosemary Leach.
