Obituary

DODGE CITY - Elizabeth (Betty) Louise Revitte passed away in Overland Park, KS on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Betty was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Manor Sorrell, her husband, Francis (Fran) Revitte, and her daughter, Dr. Geri Brown.  She is survived by her sister, Ruth Berg of Port Ewen, NY; three children, Hanna Cusick (Mike) (Kansas City, MO), Marian Revitte (Albuquerque, NM) , and Frank Revitte (Therese) (Mandeville, LA),  her son-in law, Gordon Brown (Colleyville, TX) ; three grandchildren;  Beth (Kevin), Katie (PJ), Grant;  and four great-grandchildren,  Brody, Max, Lucy, and Maggie.

Betty was born Feb. 17, 1926 in Dallas, TX.  She lived most of her young life in San Antonio, TX  and after graduating from Texas Women's University in Denton, TX  she went on to pursue her Masters in Theater at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio.  It was there she met her future husband, Francis Revitte, and they were married in Houston TX on Dec.29, 1951.  They moved to Dodge City, Kansas, where they would spend the majority of their lives, Fran teaching at the Community College and Betty first as a homemaker and mother and then as a paraprofessional with the Dodge City Public Schools.  In 2007 both moved to Kansas City to be closer to family.

Betty was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Cathedral and later the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  She was an avid quilter, loved traveling with Fran, visiting family, cheering on the Royals, and attending the Santa Fe Opera.  Betty will be remembered for her smile, her fondness for flowers and chocolates, and most of all her love for her family. Finally, she passed on a love of reading and the importance of education, gifts that have lasted a lifetime.   She will be dearly missed by all she leaves behind but there is comfort in knowing that she is now truly "home".

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am May 26, 2018 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 901 Central Ave., Dodge City, with Fr. Aneesh Parappanattu presiding.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00am to service time.

The family suggests memorials to Dodge City Public Library in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
