SPEARVILLE – Elmer W. Schuette, 89, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Southwind in Spearville.

He was born January 13, 1935 on the family farm near Wright, the son of William Conard and Bernadine M. (Braun) Schuette.  He was a graduate of Spearville High School and a lifetime resident of Ford County.  He farmed all of his life and worked 25 years at the Farmland Feed Mill.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Knights of Columbus, Council 1539, and a member of the Senior Center in Spearville.

On November 21, 1959 he married Barbara "Bobbie" Finlay in Belpre, Kansas.

Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, and children, Mike and wife, Connie, of Wichita, Carol Hollingshead and husband, Richard, of Wichita, David and wife, Jenette, of Jetmore, Linda Fry and husband, Hoyt, of Ford, Eric, of Hays and Mary Ann Blevins, of Great Bend; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Nancy Ann Schuette, a brother, Clarence Schuette and three sisters, Mildred "Millie" Schuette, Edna Schuette and Sr. Anacleta Schuette.

A rosary by the Knights of Columbus will be at 10:00 am Saturday, August 24, 2024 with the Funeral Mass immediately following at St. John the Baptist Church, in Spearville with Fr. John Forkuoh officiating. The internment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Spearville. There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place.  Friends may sign the register from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel in Dodge City.
