DODGE CITY – Elna V. Fail, 97, died Monday, January 1, 2024 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City.

She was born April 3, 1926 on the family farm in Hodgeman County, the daughter of Henry Fritze and Minnie Kathleen (Viets) Ideker.  She was a lifetime area resident and a homemaker.  She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.

She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Dodge City.

On May 28, 1948 she married Sidney Fail in Hodgeman County.  He preceded her in death on January 19, 1998.

Survivors include: a sister, Marcella Nightengale, Topeka; 4 grandchildren, LaTisha Frank and Rob, Fowler, Ty Gleason and Joyce, Dodge City, Deonna Tabor and husband Jeremy, Dodge City and Denise Yancey and husband Clay, Guymon, Oklahoma; and 7 great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 daughters, Marsha Yeager, Donna Livingston and Debra Frank, a brother, Everett Ideker, a sister, Dorothy Ohlensehlen and a grandson, Chad Frank.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 am Friday, January 5, 2024 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Rev. Randall Jahnke officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, rural Hodgeman County.  Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
