DODGE CITY - Fernando Gonzalez Galaviz, 68, lost his battle to cancer on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.

He was born September 22, 1950 at Villa Matamoros, Chihuahua, Mexico the son of Jose Galaviz and Refugio Gonzalez. He worked as a butcher for National Beef, Cargill and numerous other packing plants. He also worked in fields cleaning corn, beans and other crops.

He was a member of the GI Form.

On October 18, 1976 he married Mary Jane Galaviz. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include: one daughter, Maria Osorio and husband Domingo, Dodge City; 1 sister; 2 grandchildren, Domingo Fernando Osorio, and Cassandra Osorio, both of Dodge City; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Jose Galaviz, 8 brothers, and 6 sisters.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Juan Valasquez officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. Visitation will be Monday from10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
