Gary
Holman
Nov 5, 1946 — Jul 24, 2020
Dodge City – Gary Scott Holman was born on November 5, 1946 and passed away at the age of 73, on Friday July 24, 2020 at Copper Health Rehabilitation Center in Oro Valley, Arizona.
He was born in Wyoming to Dalbert and Ada (Ambrosen) Holman. He was the oldest of 3 children. The family would relocate to Fountain, Colorado where his parents ran a restaurant business. They would later move to Garden City, Kansas where Gary would graduate from high school. After graduation, Gary joined the US Airforce and served in the Vietnam War. His time in the Airforce lead to his love for all things aviation, which positioned him with a career in air craft maintenance. He retired from the airline industry (Delta Airlines) in 2005 and found a new love in the Catalina Mountains of Arizona. His time spent working for Delta Airlines allowed for many international adventures that he was able to share with his family. Places like Germany, England, Canada and Ireland, to name a few, formed a grand impression on Gary and his love of all things "beer." Aside from travel, beer and aircraft, Gary had a soft spot for his canine children (Cotton and Nora). There was not a hardware store anywhere nearby that wasn't used to seeing Gary push his shopping cart with a well-groomed ball of white fluff in the basket through the store. Gary was well known for sitting and chatting for hours about his fur babies with an insurance agent, attorney or home repair man.
Gary is survived by his 3 children. Daughter Shannon Gwyn and husband Joel of San Antonio, Texas; daughter Courtney Klesper of Allen, Texas and daughter Dana Holman and husband Ricky of Arlington, Texas; and 4 grandchildren, and his sisters, Faye Adams and husband Larry of Dodge City, Kansas and Debby Goldsmith and husband Ed of Richmond, Kansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dalbert and Ada Holman.
A graveside service will take place on March 8th, 2021 at 2pm at Greencrest Memorial Gardens in Dodge City, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to please consider making a donation to PIMA Animal Care Center, 4000 N Silverbell Rd, Tucson, AZ 85745 or to the Parkinson's Foundation. Condolences may be sent to www.zieglerfuneralchapel.com.
