Obituary

DODGE CITY – Jeffrey Ryan Gibson, 46, died Sunday, January 31, 2021 in rural Ford County from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

He was born March 30, 1974 in Wichita, the son of Craig and Barbara (Box) Gibson. He was a 1992 graduate of Valley Center High School. While in high school, he was active in 4-H, raised pigs and ran cross country. In 1996, he received his Bachelor's Degree from Kansas State University, studying Ag Business, Animal Science and Production Management. He participated in Rodeo Club all 4 years, serving as president.

Some of his favorite things to do were attending anything involving his daughters. Sports, FFA, choir or any other events, if his princesses were doing something, he'd be there. He also loved fishing, rodeo, bull riding, and spending time with his friends. Considering he made friends wherever he was at, this wasn't too difficult for him. He was involved in the cattle industry his entire working career, working for Sun-Glo Feeds in Hesston, Gjerstad Cattle, R&E Cattle Company and was a self employed cattle broker, trading fat cattle.

Regardless of his job title, his job was all about talking to people. He was always calling people he knew, starting a conversation. Even when it started with work it turned into a conversation about so and so's family, their pets, anything. If he didn't know someone and he thought there was common ground, he would get to know you. He could start a conversation based on the cap you were wearing.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dodge City. He was also a member of the Kansas State University Alumni.

On February 2, 2002 he married Janae Kirby-Wilson. To this union, 3 daughters were born. Charlie, Chylynn and Celia.

Survivors include: his 3 daughters all of Ashland; his mother, Barbara Gibson, Newton, Kansas; his father, Craig Gibson and wife Linda, Wichita; sister, Stephanie Senn and husband Mike, Newton; brother, Brian Gibson and wife Mary, Emporia, Kansas; 2 step-sisters, Cynthia Allensworth and Kristen Allensworth both of Wichita.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Doyle and Irene Box.
