DODGE CITY – Jose C. Alba Mijares, 73, died Sunday, January 22, 2023 at his home in Dodge City.

He was born May 7, 1949 in Durango, Mexico, the son of Andres Alba and Lucia Mijares.  He moved to Dodge City in 1998 from California and worked mainly in construction as well as restaurants.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City.  He enjoyed woodworking, singing and playing the guitar.

In November 1994 he met his wife, Sofia Poblano.  She survives.

Other survivors include: 7 children, Jose C. Alba Lozano and wife Catalina Alba,

Lucia Lozano and husband Carlos Lozano, Loretti Alba, Maria Arraiga and husband Roberto, Edith Alba and husband Juan Don Juan, Emma Alba and husband Omar Robles and Migual de J. Alba all of Dodge City; his sister, Socorro Alba, Muleshoe, Texas; his brother, Martin Alba, Mexico; and 20 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Vigil service will be at 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Thursday at the church with Fr. John Stang presiding.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
