DODGE CITY- Jose Antonio Gonzalez, 59, died Friday, May 12, 2023 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.

He was born March 20, 1964 in Colonia Vicente Guerro Monte Escobedo, Zacatecas, Mexico, the son of Luis and Emilia Gonzalez. He moved to Dodge City in 2004 from Chicago and he worked as a welder as well as in construction.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He married Armandina Gonzalez, March 4, 1989 in Zacatecas, Mexico. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Luis A. Gonzalez, Dodge City; a daughter, Kimberly Gonzalez, Dodge City; his mother, Emilia Gonzalez, Mexico; 5 sisters, Aurora Gonzalez, Elena Gonzalez, Bertha Gonzalez, Cuca Gonzalez and Yolanda Gonzalez; 3 brothers, Jose Cruz Gonzalez, Alfredo Gonzalez and Victor Gonzalez; 2 grandchildren, Vael Emiliano and Amelia Adaly.

He was preceded in death by his father, 2 brothers, Catarino and Alberto Gonzalez.

Vigil service will be at 7:00 pm Thursday, May 18, 2023 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Friday at the church with Fr. John Stang presiding. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Dodge City. Visitation will be on Thursday from noon to 4:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
