SPEARVILLE- Joy Salmans, 70, died Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Minneola District Hospital in Minneola.

She was born April 24, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Louis Edward and Betty Helen (Inman) Hunt.  She was raised in Boron, California where she attended school and on December 2, 1978, she married Gary L. Salmans in Victorville, California and soon moved to Kansas. Joy went back to college graduating in 1994 with high honors She spent 19 years working as a bookkeeper and sales clerk at Ace Hardware in Dodge City until her retirement in 2018.

Survivors include: her husband of 44 years, Gary; her son, Jason, Dodge City; bonus son, Chandler(grandson)  Williston, ND, stepsons, Gary Salmans, Leoti, Loren Salmans, Alaska, Damon Salmans, Alaska; sister, Kathy Ragsdale, Medford, Oregon; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Dawn Jenkins Salmans, 4 brothers, William, Michael, Ricky and James Hunt, and a half-sister, Barbara Zimmerman.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 10:00am at Ziegler Funeral Chapel in Dodge City with Pastor Gary Salmans officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hanston Cemetery, Hanston, Kansas.  Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2023 from noon to 8:00pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel in Dodge City.
