DODGE CITY - Karl Abney James, Jr., 91, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City.

He was born January 4, 1927 at Ada, Oklahoma, the son of Karl, Sr. and Clara (Hyder) James.  He received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of Delta Sigma.  He moved from Oklahoma City to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1965 where he was a General Contractor.  He moved to Dodge City in March 2017.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing and golfing.

In August of 1969 he married Linda Bond at New Orleans.  She preceded him in death in November of 2001.

Survivors include: his 2 daughters, Jamie James, Dodge City and Joni Chow and husband Willie, Dodge City; a step-daughter, Lisa Chimento, New Orleans; a sister, Della Watson, Oklahoma City; 2 grandchildren, Brandon Baudin and wife Stephanie, Houston, Texas and Jonathan Wall, Shreveport, Louisiana; 3 step-grandchildren, Azure, Maranda and Veronica; and 2 great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ethan Baudin.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family services will be held at a later date in Oklahoma City.  There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.

The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
