DODG CITY – Kathleen McElgunn, 83, died Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City.

She was born at St. Anthony Hospital in Dodge City on January 1, 1941, the daughter of Francis J. and Esther M. (Schawe) McElgunn.  She received her nurses training at Dodge City Community College.  She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for 37 years working 1 year at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita and Pratt Regional Medical Center, later working at St. Anthony Hospital, Trinity Hospital and Western Plains Medical Complex all in Dodge City until retiring in 2010.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Altar Society in Dodge City.

Survivors include: her brother, Francis McElgunn and wife Peggy, Lenexa, Kansas; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Richard and Gerry, a sister, Delores McElgunn; a sister-in-law, Marty McElgunn; 2 nephews, Lawrence and Lou McElgunn, a great niece, Megan McElgunn and an uncle, Paul McElgunn.

Rosary will be at 9:00 am Saturday, August 17, 2024 with the funeral Mass to follow at 9:30 am both at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 901 Central Ave., Dodge City with Fr. John Stang presiding.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Dodge City.  Visitation will be Friday from noon to 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
