DODGE CITY – Linda L. (Rarden) Dowse, 76 transitioned peacefully from this life on February 8, 2021 at her home surrounded by her husband Basil and two daughters, April Fields and Justine Carlson. She endured a long battle with cancer.

Linda was born on June 22, 1944 in Dodge City to William E. and Ethel (Marine) Rarden who made their home in Copeland, Kansas. She attended public schools in Copeland, graduating in 1962. For many years she was the librarian for the Copeland Library and enjoyed reading hundreds of books in her lifetime. She was a member of the Friday Afternoon Club while living in Copeland. As a youth she found work at the C and S Café as did many other Copeland school kids, working with her long-time friend Sylvia Hilliard. As irony would have it, they both passed within the same week, Sylvia being 103.

Survivors include her husband, Basil of 56 years whom she married in the Copeland Christian Church on July 4, 1964. Her two daughters, April Fields and husband Tim and Justine Carlson and husband Dustin, grandson, Jonathon Bice, granddaughter, Amber Carlson, great-granddaughter, Arsyn, and brother, Paul Rarden.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Being an avid bingo player, she leaves behind a host of friends and acquaintances.

Memorial service will be Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 10:00 am at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City with Pastor Doug Harris officiating. Friends and family may sign the register book Tuesday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to VFW Post 1714 or Hospice of the Prairie both in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14 ^th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
