Obituary

SPEARVILLE – Lorraine Jane (Hogan) Hubbell, age 88, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on May 31, 2026. Born November 18, 1937, in Spearville, Ks, she was the daughter of James H. and Mary F. "Mamie" Gleason Hogan of the St. Mary's Community in rural Hodgeman County, Ks.

Jane graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy, Wichita, Ks, as well as St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in September 1958. During her nursing career, she served as director of nursing of St. Joseph Hospital and was instrumental in designing the current St. Joseph Hospital in Wichita.

On July 28, 1973, she and Carl Hubbell were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hodgeman County, Ks. With that union, she became an instant mother to five children and went on to add a daughter and son to the family. She was a stranger to no one and a friend to everyone. Blessed with a quick wit and warm spirit, she was a source of comfort, encouragement, and laughter to those around her. A true prayer warrior, she lived her faith daily and uplifted countless others through her prayers and steadfast devotion.

She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella, Spearville, Ks.

She is survived by her husband Carl, children Dan Hubbell (Lois), Andover, Steve Hubbell (Cindy), Spearville, Marian Riekenberg (Tim), Dodge City, Nadine Lampe (Kurt), Dodge City, Sandra Meyers (Karl), Hays, Jan Goers (Jason), Wichita and Michael Hubbell (Tonya), Spearville; siblings, James G. Hogan (Joan), Spearville and Richard Hogan (Cindy), Kinsley; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Mary Alice Hogan, Luella “Fran” Hogan Welsh, and her husband Jim, and Eleanor Hogan. In addition, there were seven sleeping angels Matthew, Jordan, Jamie, Brody, Jaden, Jalen, and Kolton.
