MINNEOLA- Mabel Arlene Behee, 86, died Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Minneola Long Term Care Unit in Minneola, Kansas.

She was born September 13, 1936 at Clearwater, Kansas, the daughter of James and Bessie (Price) Hines.  In 1954 she married Joseph Edward Behee in Clearwater, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on September 11, 1983.  Mabel was a cook at the Kansas Soldiers' Home in Fort Dodge for over 20 years.  She spent her time going for walks, working on embroidery, playing card games, playing Yahtzee, she enjoyed reading romance novels, and her most joyous times were spent with her family.

Survivors include: 4 children, Edward Behee, Dodge City, Kansas, Rena Calderon and spouse Jessie of Dodge City, Kansas, Janet Belknap and spouse Jim, Garden City, Kansas and Rose Davis, Denville, New Jersey; 2 brothers, Carl Hines and spouse Beth, Yates Center, Kansas, J.D. Hines and spouse Gayle, Juneau, Alaska; and a Granddaughter, Iris Behee, Seatle, Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband.

There is no public visitation as cremation has taken place.  A private family memorial will take place at a later date.
