DODGE CITY - Maria Velia Lopez De Alvarez, 59, died Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Western Plains Medical Complex.

She was born October 1, 1960 at Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico, the daughter of Adolfo Lopez Arroyo and Cipriana Pacheco.  A Dodge City resident since May 1, 2000, moving from Rio Grande, she worked at National Beef in Dodge City.

She was a member of Dodge City Nueva Esperanza.

On January 1, 1980, she married Ausencio Alvarez at Rio Grande.  He survives.

Other survivors include: Their 4 children, Gladys Arreola, Dodge City, Jose Alvarez and wife Graciela, San Antonio, Texas, Magda Carrillo and husband Francisco, Dodge City and Daniel Alvarez, Dodge City; 8 grandchildren, Eric Arreola, Alex Arreola, Caleb Arreola, Jose Luis Alvarez, Jr., Giovanny Alvarez, Jonathan Alvarez, Isai Carrillo and Elian Carrillo.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Dodge City Nueva Esperanza, 811 Ave. A, Dodge City, with Pastor Emilio Raymundo officiating.  Viewing will be Saturday from 2:00 pm to service time at the church.  Burial will be in the San Felipe Cemetery, Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico.
