DODGE CITY – Mary Alice "Dolly" Herron, 97 died Saturday, January 9, 2021 at her home.

She was born June 2, 1923 on a farm north of Wright, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Mollie (Schiffner) Birzer.

She worked a variety of different jobs but most importantly was a stay-at-home mom raising her son and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her grandkids, Playing pitch with her friends and riding horses when she was younger.

On June 1, 1957 she married John S. Herron at Cimarron, Kansas. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include: her son, Clark Herron and wife Lisa, Cimarron; 2 Grandchildren, Kiesha Carmona and husband Jeremy, Dodge City and Michaela Pena and husband Trey, Overland Park, Kansas; 4 great grandchildren, Elayna and E'vett Carmona and Emmitt and Isla Pena; 2 brothers, Larry "Lawrence" Birzer, Meridian, Mississippi and Lee Birzer and wife Lou, Wichita, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, Frank, Fred, Albert, Jim, John and Edward Birzer; 3 sisters, Alma Talley, Helen Carrier, Elsie McComas.

Graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Friday January 15, 2021 at the Cimarron Cemetery with David Johnson officiating. Friends and family may sign the register book on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
