Obituary

SPEARVILLE:  Mary "Pat" Torline, 84, died February 28, 2019, in her home in Spearville, KS surrounded by her family.

Pat was born to Joseph Anthony and Rita Cecelia (Kinsella) Coppersmith in Clyde, MO on October 16, 1934.  She and her younger brother Francis grew up in Marysville, MO.  Pat attended Mount St. Scholastica (now Benedictine College) in Atchison, KS where she received her Bachelor of Music Degree. While there, she met Glenn, her husband of 60 years.  After graduation, she taught in Kansas City, KS for two years until she and Glenn were married in Marysville.  The newlyweds moved to Spearville where she continued to teach until starting their family.

Pat is survived by Glenn and their five children:  Dr. Michael Torline, Beverly, New Jersey;  Terry Torline with his wife Gretchen and their children Blake, Gabby and Kathryn, Wichita, KS;  Anne Torline, Jupiter, FL;  Paul Torline with his wife Karen and their children Hanna, Madalyn, Jonathon and Sam, Shawnee, KS and Stephen Torline with his wife Michelle and their children Danica, John and Frances, Fairway, KS.

Pat's kindness was felt by all, but her true legacy was her unwavering dedication to others, especially her family, for which they are eternally grateful.  Pat was intimately involved in all of her children's activities and made many sacrifices to support their ambitions.  Over the years, Pat welcomed many into her home.  One of the events she looked forward to over the past 39 years was hosting her "Benedictine Family" for Thanksgiving dinner during their annual pheasant hunt.

Pat was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella in Spearville.  She was also a former Spearville School Board Member and Den Mother.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents.
