Melissa "Micki"
D. Ward
Dec 11, 1968 — Dec 8, 2024
DODGE CITY - Melissa "Micki" D. Ward, 55 entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at St. Teresa Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was surrounded by her family and friends during this tremendous loss.
We all know she was cussing the entire time as she would not have wanted to be a bother to anyone. She was a cancer survivor, and she fought hard. Cancer didn't win.
We have realized that Micki wanted to make sure she never ran out of clothes and has more than enough for EVERYONE!
Micki was the life of the party everywhere she went. She knew everyone, and if you didn't know her, you did before the night was over. She was loud, she was fun, and she had the biggest heart. She didn't hold her opinions back and had a knack for telling it like it was. She always told you the truth even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear.
Micki graduated from Dodge City Senior High School in 1987 and Got the Hell out of Dodge! She continued her education at Friends University in Wichita, receiving her Bachelors of Science in Business Management. She currently worked for Koch Industries and was the owner and operator of Ward's Professional Cleaning, LLC.
Micki loved concerts and never missed the opportunity to go, no matter who it was! She lived life to the fullest, blonde moments and all!
She was born on December 11, 1968, in Dodge City, Kansas to Jerry Ward and Charlene Helfrich. She is survived by her mother, Charlene, Dodge City, son, Joshua Ross Goolsby, Wichita, sister, Dena "Weenie" Ward (Kathy Barnett), Dodge City, sister, Tammy Apala (William), Wewoka, Oklahoma, nieces, Amber Jetaime, Joshua, Texas, Pazley Torrans (Shayne), Kingwood, Texas, nephew, Chawn Apala (Jessica), Wewoka, Oklahoma, best friend, Christy Banzet, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends she considered family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Ward and her fur baby Molly who was there to greet her in heaven.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday February 22, 2025 at 10:30am at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City, with Jeff Hiers officiating. There will also be an additional celebration in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday March 15, 2025 at 2:00 pm at GracePoint Community Church.
