DODGE CITY- Melvin E. Clare, 76, died Friday, April 6, 2018 at his home.

He was born June 22, 1941 at Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Carl and Billie (Gaskill) Clare. A life time Dodge City resident, he worked for Crustbuster/Speedking and retired in 2003. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golf, arrowhead hunting, storm chasing, bird watching, dominoes and just being in the outdoors.

On February 14, 1981 Melvin married Mary Duncan at Dodge City, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include: 4 sons, Mel Alan Clare and wife Mischelle, Dodge City, Del Wayne Clare and wife Michele, Springfield, Colorado, Kel Dean Clare and wife Sue, Dodge City, Dustin Eugene Clare and wife Yuliya, Stuttgart, Germany; 2 sisters, Sharon Clare, Bucklin, Kansas and Roxanne Martinez, Dodge City; and 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, Thelma Clare, 2 brothers, Donnie and Larry Clare.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Wilroads Gardens Christian Church with Pastor Jason Goetz.  Book signing will be from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, April 13 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel. There will be no public visitation, cremation has taken place.
