DODGE CITY – Michele (Downey) Casey, 67, died Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi St. Frances, Wichita.

She was born July 24, 1954 at Dodge City, the daughter of Mike and Elaine (Gleason) Downey. She graduated Dodge City Senior High School and for the past many years worked for Lewis Toyota, Dodge City, where she considered her co-workers like family.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City. She enjoyed gardening, reading and loved anything with her grandchildren, especially their sporting events.

Survivors include: son, Eric Venard and wife Trista, Dodge City; 2 daughters, Jacki Venard and companion Dale Deneault, Concordia and Angie Hamlin, Wichita; her mother, Elaine Downey, Dodge City; a brother, Kelly Downey and wife Cindy J., Dodge City; 6 grandchildren, Mason, Dale Jr., Jalen, Brecklynn, Hannah and Cutler; a great grandchild, Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mike Downey, a son, Jeremy Venard, granddaughter, Taylor Bonner, 3 sisters, Sally Downey, Stacie Downey and Cindy Downey and a brother, Jack Downey.

Vigil service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 15, 2021 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 901 Central Ave., with Fr. Rudin Din presiding. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hodgeman County. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.  Friends may sign the register Friday from Noon to 7:00pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
