DODGE CITY – Mont O. McAllister, 87, died Thursday, November 18, 2021 at SunPorch of Dodge City.

He was born on the family farm in Rice County, Kansas, the son of John Ronald and Clara Edna (Massey) McAllister.  On August 15, 1953 he married Barbara Ann Nichols at Nickerson, Kansas.  He worked at the Air Force Base in Hutchinson before moving to Dodge City in 1959.  He worked for many years as a Night Supervisor at Hy Plains Dressed Beef, now National Beef, in Dodge City.  In 1995 he opened K&M Rental in Dodge City which he operated until 2016.

He operated Dodge City 2 Wheelers on the west side of Dodge City and volunteered at McCarty Speedway and the Jetmore Motorplex.  He enjoyed motorcycles, NASCAR and Drag Racing.

Survivors include: 3 daughters, Peggy "Caroline" Burton, Honolulu, Hawaii, Penny McAllister, Dodge City and Brenda Nietling and husband Duane, Dodge City; a son, Mont G. McAllister, Pagosa Springs, Colorado; a brother, Clifford McAllister, Nickerson; 10 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara, on September 16, 2020, a son, Mark McAllister, a grandson, Aric Burton, a sister, Marceline Johanning and 3 brothers, Zach, Paul "Pete" and Elton McAllister.

Memorial service will be at 10:00 am Monday, November 29, 2021 at the Dodge City Church of the Nazarene with Jeff Hiers officiating.  Inurnment will follow in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.  Friends may sign the register from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, November 26, 2021 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.

The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association both in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14 ^th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
