DODGE CITY- Novella Rhoten, 83, died Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains, Dodge City, KS.

She was born August 9, 1939 in Hendley, Nebraska, the daughter of Oscar Norval and Irma (Martin) Mart.  She was a graduate of Rexford High School and attended college at Fort Hays State University.  On October 3, 1958 she married Terry Rhoten, her high school sweetheart, at her parents' house in Rexford, KS.   They were married for 52 years.  In 1959, they moved from Wichita to Dodge City where she worked alongside her husband at their business, Honda House.   She later worked as an accountant for Kennedy McKee until retiring.  She spent many of her years of retirement working for her son, Darren, at Dodge City Harley Davidson and Dodge City Powersports.

She was a member of Dodge City Roundup, serving as the Treasurer for over 20 years.  She was also a member of The Dodge City Women's Chamber where she had various roles.  In Novella's younger years, she was very athletic and enjoyed playing softball and bowling.  She enjoyed supporting her family in motorcycle racing and more recently enjoyed time at the Casino.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Darren and wife Brenda, Dodge City, Troy and wife Lisa, Montrose, Colorado, Sean and wife Silva, Rialto, California; 7 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Terry on May 2, 2011, a grandson, Dylan Rhoten, and a brother, Robert Mart.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place.
