Patricia A.
Tieben
Apr 25, 1935 — May 3, 2025
DODGE CITY - With her infectious sweet smile and surrounded by those who loved her, Patricia A. Tieben, 90, peacefully passed into eternal rest on May 3, 2025, at Southwind at Spearville.
Born April 25, 1935, in Wright, Kansas, to Jacob Noah and Anna Mary (Wolf) Ring, Pat lived a life full of grace, laughter, and love. She married her high school sweetheart, James (Jimmy) Tieben, on May 3, 1954—beginning a 57-year journey of faith, family, and friendship. Together, they raised four children and built a home rooted in kindness, hard work, and joy.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, Patricia was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and active in the Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society, Moose Lodge, and her beloved bowling league. She lived her faith not only in church but through quiet acts of compassion: crocheting baby quilts for infants in Africa, making wedding flowers by hand, and offering the kind of warm hug that could heal hearts.
She worked at the Wright Post Office from 1951 to 1965 and helped co-found the family business, My-D Han-D, in 1961. Alongside Jimmy, she also helped run T & R Mink Ranch from the late 1950s through the 1970s. Pat was never idle—she filled her days with crafting, reading, needlepoint, and travel, always creating and giving with purpose.
Her greatest pride and joy were her family. She is survived by her children: Kevin Tieben and wife Monica of Wright; Daryl Tieben and wife Carol of Dodge City; JoAnn Tieben of Hesston and companion Brad Cummins and Doris Donovan and fiancé Robert Schiffner of Spearville. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, LeRoy Ring and wife Maggie of Florida; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy; her parents; three brothers—Arnold, Jerry, and Tom Ring; a sister, Eleanor Ackerman; and a great-grandchild, Cooper Casey.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 9, 2025, from noon to 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service and Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., both at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 10, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, with Fr. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Windthorst.
The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Windthorst Heritage Inc., Sacred Heart School Endowment or Southwind at Spearville — all in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801.
Patricia leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that lives on through the many lives she touched. She was the best hugger, a quiet light in her community, and the heart of her family—and she will be deeply missed.
