DODGE CITY – Peggy Powers, 73, died Monday, February 10, 2025 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

She was born October 15, 1951 at Spearville, the daughter of Robert and Waneta (Schawe) McGee.  She was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Dodge City and attended Dodge City Community College's Cosmetology Department.  On June 9, 1973 she married Ken Powers at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City.  After raising her family, she worked at her father's liquor store, McGee Liquor.  She later was the office manager for Key Office where she worked for 20 years until retiring in June of 2016.

She was a member of St. Andrew Church in Wright.  She enjoyed sewing and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include: 2 daughters, Rhonda Whitney and husband Brian, Haviland and Shayla Werner and husband Jason, Hays; 4 grandchildren, Brayden, Quint, Kambree and Brody; a brother, Dan McGee and wife Kat, Ferndale, Washington; and a sister-in-law, Penny McGee, Norton, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ken, on August 16, 2023 and a brother, Mickey McGee.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Monday, February 17, 2025 at St. Andrew Church, Wright, with Fr. Ted Stoecklein presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery.  There will be no public visitation, the casket will remain closed.
