Scott
Howard
Dec 13, 1956 — Apr 14, 2026
WICHITA –Scott Howard – beloved father, brother, uncle, gramps and friend, 69, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at his home in Wichita. Though he departed unexpectedly and too quickly - he left a legacy of laughter, love and friendship.
He was born December 13, 1956 at Dodge City, the son of Melvin E. and Cara Lee (Vance) Howard. He was a graduate of Dodge City High School and received his Associates Degree from Dodge City Community College. He began working as Service Technician for Southwestern Bell/AT&T in 1978 in Dodge City and in 2003 he moved to Wichita where he continued his work until retiring in 2013. In June of 1977 he married Dana Henry in Dodge City, where they raised a family and were married for 23 years.
Throughout his life, he had a passion for vehicles and later on, motorcycles. You could often find him happily detailing one or the other in his garage or outside on a nice, sunny day. He was quite the handyman.
He could be found cheering on his favorite sports team from the "best seat in the house." Or grabbing dinner and drinks at his favorite watering hole where everyone knew his name.
Scott had terrific friends, and together they shared a lifelong bond on and off their Harley-Davidsons. Together they, and others, made the annual trek to Sturgis, and many Augusts were spent camping and riding through the hills.
He will fondly be remembered for his quick wit, hearty laugh, big bear hugs, and willingness to always lend a helping hand. You could count on him to be there – and be there early.
Survivors include: his 3 children, Emily Hollenbeck and husband Brian, Sharon, Massachusetts, Erin Stroda and companion, David Medina, Corona, California and Kevin Howard and wife Em, Evergreen, Colorado; 5 grandchildren, Natalie, Tate, Bennett, Kai and Klarity; 2 sisters, Sue Streit and husband Jerry, Wichita and Stephanie Anderson and husband Al, Castle Rock, Colorado, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and longtime friend, Marilyn Nelson.
A private memorial will be held at his home. The celebration of life will take place on Saturday, May 2 at 3 pm at Dudley's, 8550 W. 21st Street #500 in Wichita, Kansas. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.
The family suggests memorials to Sleep in Heavenly Peace of Topeka in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
