Obituary

DODGE CITY - Sharon Allen was greeted at the pearly gates on Saturday, April 26th, 2025. She passed away at the age of 76 at her son's residence in Thornton, Colorado. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, as well as everyone who was lucky enough to have been blessed by her big beautiful laugh! She leaves them with many wonderful memories of the amazing woman she was and with gratitude for the time she was given.

Sharon was born June 14, 1948 in Denver, Colorado to her parents Edward and Billie Marguerite (Cecil) Fisher. In her early elementary years, she moved to the farm with grandparents Charles "Chod" and Nora Cecil in Ulysses, Ks. She loved spending time outside playing with her friends a.k.a. farm animals, critters and the grasshoppers! In 1966 she graduated from Lakin High School where she enjoyed sewing, basketball, spirit club, track, and most of all spending time hanging out with friends. 1967 she graduated from DCCC where she attained her Cosmetology License. On June 29th, 1968 she married the love of her life, Rod Allen in Ensign, Ks. Together they had three children; Rodney Brent Allen, Vanissa Kay Allen and JaNae' Marie Allen. From there, their family grew by grandchildren, great grandchildren and many bonus children & grandchildren!!

Sharon loved life and made sure to always be living! Starting her cosmetology career at Valo's Salon she also did hair at Trinity Manor. Sharon had a beauty shop built in her basement so she was able to do hair at any time. When her children were young, she stayed home with them. She decided to also watch other children so hers would have others to play with. In the early years of the family business 'Allen Heating and Air-conditioning', she not only worked as the secretary/receptionist, but also went out on the job site, getting her hands dirty, being Rod's assistant. She worked many years at Flowers by Irene with her great friend Marilyn Weber. She would fill her free time cleaning houses and doing ironing for people and also did contract cleaning for multiple doctor's offices in town. With the birth of her first grandchild, she decided to open her own daycare. Hundreds of children would come and go through "Grandma Sharon's" daycare. When her grandkids reached school age, she went to work for USD 443 School District as a Para. Always evolving she started substitute teaching. Ultimately attaining her teaching license, she taught elementary at Northwest school. With the untimely passing of her daughter JaNae', Sharon lived in Wichita most of the time helping to raise JaNae's young children. Going back-and-forth between there and Dodge every week, for many years. The last few years of her life, she spent time working at Paws & Claws pet shop, Soulspring Spa & Wellness and The Alley. She enjoyed life at all times even while working. Outside of working her life was just as full and a lot of fun. From traveling and trips, camping and lakes, family vacations to decades spent at the Sand Pit boating, skiing, cookouts, parties, fireworks & celebrations, all while enjoying the blessings of Jesus Christ.

First and foremost, Sharon's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and devotion to God. From a young age, she embraced Christianity, and dedicated herself to spreading the word, becoming a true disciple of Christ. She nurtured her relationship with God through prayer, Bible study, and acts of service, consistently demonstrating the love and compassion of Jesus. Her commitment extended to sharing her faith with others, inspiring countless people to seek a relationship with God. She lived a life characterized by humility, grace, and a profound love for God. Attending various different churches, she loved everything about her church families. From singing in the choirs, teaching Sunday school & Vacation Bible school to forming lifelong bonds with her 'Christian sisters' in her Bible study groups. She lived her life through Christ, caring for all the little children and those in need. She was "Grandma Sharon" to literally thousands.
