Obituary

DODGE CITY - Terry L. Cooper, 64, passed away peacefully in his home in Dodge City, Kansas, on November 26, 2025. He was born on July 4, 1961, to Raymond Dale and Melva Jean (Conley) Cooper. After the passing of Terry's father, his mother later married Robert Goddard, who became an important part of the family.

Terry spent many years working in construction and HVAC across Colorado before returning to his hometown of Dodge City. Once back in Kansas, he continued his hardworking ways and later worked for Ford County, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steady dedication.

A man of sincere and passionate faith, Terry lived his life with compassion, generosity, and love for others. He prayed for family, friends, and even complete strangers. He once pulled over on the highway to pray for a man walking alone and invited him to Thanksgiving dinner. On another occasion, he baptized another individual in a lake—an experience that brought him great joy and reflected his heart for helping others find their faith. Terry's greatest happiness came from seeing people give their lives to Jesus.

We choose to remember Terry by the Bible verse Matthew 4:19: "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." This verse reflects the way he lived—always reaching out, lifting up, and gently guiding others toward hope.

By request of his grandson Michael Drake, with whom Terry shared a Bible verse daily, we also honor him with 1 Corinthians 15:51–52:
"Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet."

Terry is survived by his grandchildren, Michael Drake, Christine Gomez, Jonathan Gomez, Sia Gomez, and Sebastian Gomez, all of Colorado, and also a grandson, Michael, who is from Wyoming. He is also survived by his lifelong best friend, Patty Land; his sister, Sherry Simental of Dodge City; and brother, Fred Miller and wife Jacquline of Palm Desert, California. Additionally, he leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Dale and Melva Jean Cooper, his stepfather, Robert Goddard, his brothers, Carl Cooper and Danny Miller, and his son, Robert Drake.

Terry will be remembered for his generous heart, unwavering faith, and the countless prayers he offered on behalf of others. Above all, remember him for his love of Jesus and the joy he felt watching others grow in their faith.

A private service will be held at a later date. There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place.
